The Students Shaping Democracy Summit will be hosted February 10-12, 2023. Attendees will arrive on the morning of the 10th and depart in the evening of the 12th.
The Students Shaping Democracy Summit will be held in Orlando, Florida at the Wyndham Hotel. More information can be found on the 2023 Summit Homepage.
All registrations are due Friday, November 4th. After this deadline, registrations that are cancelled will be issued a $120 lodging cancellation fee, a $30 flight cancellation fee, and any additional fees that may occur from lodging or airlines. If you wish to change your flight after it is booked, a $30 flight change fee will be issued to the student as well as any additional fees that may occur from the airline. Any cancellations or cancellation inquiries should be sent to Makenzie (events@bridgeusa.org).
Unfortunately, changes to your registration after the November 4th deadline cannot be accepted. However, if there is an urgent need for an update, please email Makenzie (events@bridgeusa.org). For students who may not register for classes prior to November 4th, your class schedule should be noted in your registration and Makenzie will contact you individually regarding your Spring 2023 class schedule.
Students who are attending the Students Shaping Democracy summit at the expense of BridgeUSA will only be required to travel expenses to and from each airport and the hotel, travel expenses during free time and in the evening, room service and incidentals, and any additional snacks, drinks, or activities you choose to pay for. BridgeUSA will provide lodging, flights, and meals.
Students who are attending the summit at their own expense will be responsible for covering items listed above as well as their flights, hotel stay, and meal costs. These expenses can be covered in the form of grants from private donors or your USG, or can be fundraised by your BridgeUSA chapter. Your chapter’s divvy funds cannot be used to fund students attendance at the Summit.
Chapter Divvy funds cannot be used to cover expenses at the summit, including travel, hotel stay, or additional “fun” expenses. These funds are reserved for chapter events and discussions. Questions pertaining to the use of your Divvy funds at the Summit should be sent to Makenzie at events@bridgeusa.org.
If you noted any dietary restrictions, allergies, or religious needs during registration, the Wyndham Hotel will ensure individualized meals to fit your needs. Your meals will be as similar as possible to the non-allergen meals. These meals will be held for only those who listed their needs during registration. If you did not list any/all dietary restrictions, allergies, or religious needs you must email these to events@bridgeusa.org ASAP, and no later than December 1st.
BridgeUSA has a contracted flight agency that will book your flights. Huddle Agency will contact you once your registration is confirmed and approved with flight options. These flight options have already been pre-screened to fit the schedule of the Students Shaping Democracy Summit — you will have 24 hours to respond to Huddle Agency otherwise you’re flight will be booked without confirmation. Any questions about flights should be sent to Makenzie at events@bridgeusa.org.
Yes, all attendees will have a roommate during the Students Shaping Democracy summit. Similar to previous BridgeUSA summits, students from the same chapter will be prioritized as roommates. If you do not have another student attending that you can share a room with, a student from a chapter near you will be selected.
Additional students are always more than welcome, but will be responsible for providing their own funding for the summit. For questions about funding options, please see above.
If a student chooses to pay their way through personal or public fundraising, they will be responsible for covering the cost of their flight, lodging, and all meals. Additional students who wish to attend must still register for the summit. The total cost for additional students is $800, excluding flight costs. The proof of fundraising/payment must be sent to Makenzie (events@bridgeusa.org) by November 30th. Additional students will be responsible for booking their own flights; however, we highly encourage you not to purchase your flight without proof of payment for the entirety of the summit. For additional students wishing to attend, please contact Makenzie for specific flight options to ensure you arrive and depart at times that allow you to fully experience the summit! Any questions? Email Makenzie (events@bridgeusa.org)!
