Why Contact My Elected Officials?
At BridgeUSA, we know that most of Americans hold strong political positions and are passionate about sharing them. We discuss issues and engage one another’s positions at our events, but you have to take action to enact the changes that you want to see. Contacting your elected officials is one way you can make your voice heard!
Sharing your views with your elected officials helps inform them of where their constituents stand on issues, and can even sway them to vote one way or another or to consider a problem or solution that they were previously unaware of.
How Do I Contact Them?
While we don’t advocate for individual candidates or specific pieces of legislation as an organization, we highly encourage individuals to advocate for what they believe in (according to the BridgeMindset, of course). So, we have put together some resources to make things easier for you!
To find your elected officials at all levels of government, you can go to https://www.commoncause.org/find-your-representative/ and type in your address. From there, navigate to your elected officials’ websites to find their office addresses!
You can find the BridgeUSA postcard loaded with a template here and a postcard with no written template here. You can print these out and send to elected officials! Or, if you prefer virtual communication, you can email them to your representatives!
